Alarm
Information
Q: How much does an alarm system cost?
A: Every installation is as different as everyone's sense of security.
A good design for an alarm installation is the most important factor.
After that accessibility, square footage and the capabilities of the
system are factors in the cost.
Q: What is a wireless system?
A: There are two kinds of systems that Anchor Alarm can install.
One, is a wired system where all devices have a wire to them. Wire is
almost always installed in-wall and run through attics and crawlspaces.
The other is a wireless system where each device has a wireless transmitter
that sends a signal to the control receiver. There are also applications
where both wired and wireless systems are integrated to create one system.
Q: What is 24-hour monitoring?
A: Anchor Alarm provides 24-hour monitoring service to our customers
installations as well as existing systems. Upon alarm activation a digital
signal is sent to our UL-listed central station indicating a number
of things; burglar alarm, panic or distress situations, fire alarm,
carbon monoxide detection, water accumulation detection and others.
Our operators are quick and efficient in calling the premise and handling
the situation whether it is an actual alarm or customer error. Should
there be an actual alarm the proper local authorities are dispatched
immediately. When our customers are on vacation or just at work or play
our central station is "baby-sitting" your alarm system, keeping
your home or business safe.
Q: What if I have motion detectors in my house and want to stay home
with the alarm on?
A: Our keypads have a STAY mode that disables the interior
of the house yet arms the perimeter for your protection. This gives
you the freedom to move about your home.
Q: How do pets affect motion detectors?
A: Good, quality motion detectors have a pet immune feature that
ignores animals of certain sizes yet will detect a person. Therefore
you can have full protection even with your pet indoors.
Q: What if I want my alarm on but want a window open for fresh air?
A: There are a number of ways to take care of this.
1) The
window can be bypassed at the keypad prior to arming the system.
2) The window can be "vented", meaning the opening can have
two positions to indicate closed.
3) The screen for the window can be modified to protect the opening
from screen removal or screen damage.
Q: There
is an alarm in the neighborhood that goes off all the time. What could
possibly be wrong with it?
A: Sounds
like it just need a little TLC. Our serviceman can trace pesky problems
from corrosion, pests or faulty equipment.
Q: If I have a business can I track my employees use of the alarm
system?
A: Yes, Anchor Alarm provides a service called opening/closing
reports. Given that each employee has their own code to access the alarm
system, our central station can track arming and disarming of the system
by time and user. A printed report of all activity is mailed to you
regularly.
Q: Can I get a discount on my insurance premium for having an alarm
installed in my home or business?
A: Yes, depending on the insurance company you can save up to
25% on your premium if you have a system that includes monitoring and
smoke detectors. It is best to check with your insurance carrier as
each company is different. The savings can offset the monitoring cost.
Everybody likes to get something for their money.
